Alison Jarro

Since admission as a solicitor in 2000, Ali has worked largely in governmental and regulatory agency roles, including the QPS Solicitor’s Office, the former Queensland Crime Commission, and Queensland Parliament. For a number of years, Ali assisted a number of Queensland Parliamentary Committees, including the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee guiding parliamentary members with bills and legislation. She was a former associate to the Hon. Justice John Muir AO QC. Ali has an interest in major crime and investigations and is currently in her second term as a community member of the CCC’s Crime Reference Committee.

Amelia Hughes

Amelia first came to the Bar in 2017, in Victoria, after practising as a legal advisor at Linklaters LLP in London. In August 2018, Amelia undertook an Associateship to the Hon Justice S Derrington in her capacity as President of the Australian Law Reform Commission. In 2019, Amelia was an Associate to the Hon Justice Edelman at the High Court of Australia. Following her Associateships, Amelia moved her practice to Queensland. Amelia graduated from Monash University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (First Class Honours). In 2014, she received a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford and was awarded The Rupert Cross Prize in Evidence. Amelia has also lectured in Trusts as part of the Juris Doctor degree at Monash University and, at an undergraduate level, in Public law and statutory interpretation.

Matthew Paterson

Matthew is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team at MinterEllison in Brisbane. Prior to starting at MinterEllison, he was Associate to his Honour Justice JA Logan RFD on the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme and National Courts of Papua New Guinea. Matthew has also worked as an Associate at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland.

Samuel Walpole

Samuel Walpole is an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Queensland and a Legal Consultant to the Australian Law Reform Commission. He was previously an Associate to the Hon Chief Justice Allsop AO of the Federal Court of Australia and to the Hon Justice Philippides of the Queensland Court of Appeal. Samuel holds Bachelors of Arts and Laws (First Class Honours) degrees from the University of Queensland, from which he graduated as Law Valedictorian and with the University Medal in Law. He subsequently read for the Bachelor of Civil Law at Wadham College, Oxford as an Oxford-Hackney Scholar, graduating with Distinction.

William Isdale

William Isdale is a Senior Legal Officer at the Australian Law Reform Commission, and a PhD candidate in law at the University of Queensland. Previously he was a solicitor practising in commercial law at MinterEllison. In 2017-18 he was Associate to the Hon. Justice Dowsett AM on the Federal Court of Australia.
